Chris Moulding - Senior Licensing Associate, Health Science Campus, USC Stevens Institute for Innovation. Chris Moulding is a senior licensing associate for USC Stevens, where he oversees a wide variety of innovations arising from the life sciences. Chris also has experience in the biotechnology industry, having held business development positions at Chiron and Systemix, was a co-founder of Recombinant Capital, a financial advisory services company in the biotech industry. Prior to joining USC, he was the Science Administrator for Intellectual Property at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for four years. Chris has significant experience in university technology transfer in the Los Angeles area, having been employed in licensing positions at both UCLA and Caltech. Thomas “Tommy” Papa - Principal & CEO, CRESO Capital Partners. Mr. Papa has over twenty years in operations and finance consulting, high level management, and marketing and sales with Fortune 500, management consulting, and investment banking firms operating in the USA, Europe and Asia. P. K. Shukla, Ph.D., C.P.I.M - Vice Chancellor for Entrepreneurship, Director, Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics , Chapman University. Dr. Shukla received a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Southern California and his Ph. D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Shukla has a total of six university degrees. He joined Chapman University in 1985 and is an Associate Professor of Management. He has previously worked in faculty and administrative positions at California State University campuses, USC, and at California community colleges. He has edited two published textbooks and has presented/published several papers. His research focuses upon the application of managerial and strategic decision-making tools. He is a Sam Walton SIFE Fellow. In 2009, Dr. Shukla was appointed in the newly created position of Vice Chancellor for Entrepreneurship at Chapman University; the objective of this position is to create entrepreneurial opportunities and values across the entire campus. Since 2006, he has served as Director of the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics within the Argyros School of Business and Economics. Vance R. Thompson - President, USC Marshall Alumni Association, Orange County Chapter. Marshall Toplansky - Managing Director, Harvard Business School Alumni Association of Orange County. Marshall is Chairman and CEO of Core Strategies. Marshall founded Core Strategies in 1996, building on his accomplishments and leadership role as in the marketing field. In his 30+ years of business experience, Marshall has led organizations to finding new ways of thinking and operating that have resulted in unprecedented growth and success. His experiences include developing effective, data-driven strategies in the media, personal computer, data communications devices, telecommunications services, pharmaceutical and health care services industries. Marshall began his career at Ogilvy & Mather advertising in New York, and became Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the company’s Washington, DC-area database marketing subsidiary. While building Core Strategies, Marshall has directed a wide variety of successful research engagements for clients such as Sony, Microsoft, Gateway, Vizio, Acer, ImpreMedia and Toshiba. As head of marketing at US Robotics, Marshall developed and delivered an influencer-centric marketing strategy that fueled its hyper-growth in the modem business through the mid-1990's. As Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Insight at Gateway, Marshall developed the deep understanding of the consumer that led to the company’s dominance of the plasma TV business and a successful sale of the company. Rob Ukropina - Partner, Black Diamond Ventures; Founder Overnight Express. Previously, Rob founded Overnite Express with the idea of picking up after FedEx and UPS – 9pm – and delivering California, Arizona and Nevada. Juan Felipe Vallejo - Director of Innovation Development, USC Stevens Institute for Innovation. Juan Felipe Vallejo is responsible for directing new programs that will help faculty and students get their innovations into society. Juan Felipe plays a key role in the development of strategies to connect innovators from across the campus to each other as well as with the business community to transform ideas into successful ventures and innovations. He is licensed as a California CPA and is a member of the California Bar. Steve attended UCLA where he earned a earned a Bachelors degree majoring in Business-Economics, Golden Gate University School of Law where he earned a Juris Doctorate degree and Golden Gate University where he earned a Masters of Accountancy degree (with Honors). Brandon Carl – Banners & Awards, VIP Event Brandon Carl was born and raised in Southern California. He currently resides in Irvine with his wife Lisa. While in high school, Brandon was a member of the championship football team as well as an instrumental part of establishing a CIF sanctioned hockey team. Upon graduation Brandon attended Santiago Canyon College, where as a senator helped raise over $180 million dollars to aide in the expansion of the school. Brandon then went on to the University of California, Irvine. After graduation Mr. Carl began working for Paychex. Once established by helping business owners become more successful, he then improved his effectiveness by going to work for Administaff. With over 3 years of experience, Brandon has developed a niche with helping start-ups and small to medium sized businesses succeed. Bridget Soden – Marketing Professional On top of her efforts in the work force, she also serves as president of the Orange County chapter of AIGA | the professional association of design and is increasingly involved in Dezumo, an online social network for creative minds.
